Should anyone be able to start their own online networking site (ning.com) or their own video sharing site (startyourtube.com)? I would rather see people bringing all the sites (LinkedIn, Plaxo, Viddler, YouTube, etc) together in one place instead of spreading them out farther. Eventually we will never remember all the “Groups” we belong to!

I would say NO. I totally agree with you that we should be working on bringing all these sites together rather than spacing them out. We would get to know one another more if we could see all of the sites we are involved in at one time rather than them being all over the place. But just like you said, that’s my own opinion and I am sure there are good things about the other side too.

Hi Adam
Jean Philippe Gousse From StartYourTube
I wanted to give you a short update on our last discussion, The big name from San Fransisco has sent us a letter, it seams that NOT ANYONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE THEIR OWN ONLINE NETWORKING SITE. the future sounds good, one site for everybody, i think i have seen this before.
hope there are people out there willing for something different…
best

Jean Philippe Gousse,
Thank you for commenting on the video! I agree with you that this is a growing trend and that people should have the choice. By looking at the success of Ning.com allowing their users to start their own “Niche” networking sites, I’m sure you will find great success with StartYourTube.com. I guess what I am really looking for and another major need out there, is a social networking management site or system that will allow users to manage all of their social networking sites in one place.
Thank you so much for sharing with the readers on my blog. I stand corrected and appreciate the feedback and clarification. Please contact me anytime!

You cannot stop creative people from doing something similar in any direction. Time will tell who will survive and those that don’t. There are already examples also of networking by aggreating information from others sites. Some interesting examples
http://friendfeed.com/thomaslidforss
Friendfeed aggregates scores of sites such as facebook, twitter, blogs

Zude is an interesting way of publishing and creating a site aggregating your existing site, blog, facebook among others. I have played with it just to experience what you can do.

Mashable does social networking by combining hi5, bebo and Myspace. Hard to tell whether a site like mashable will take off or not.

Thomas,
Thank you for the comment and for the site suggestions. I use Friend Feed and have tried others. They all seam to offer some of the sites and not all of the sites. But for new, until something better comes along, these sites save us some time. Thank you again!
