“Social Networking” is a web 2.0 term for online interaction. “Social Reality” is going to be a web 3.0 term for an advanced version of interaction that is focused on getting you results from your networking. You will see a lot of niche sites that focus on getting you results from your networking. You heard it hear first!
Interesting video post. I actually work for http://www.konnects.com, which is a business network, as you know, and I am not too sure web 3.0 will be all about results. While I don’t know exactly what web 3.0 will be, I do think it will start to veer towards ranking.
What I mean by this is being able to actually sort through all of this web 2.0 data and actually apply the valuable parts to your life. Between have 75 photo sets on Flickr, to 790 Netflix movie rankings to having 15 friends who twitter all the time.
Web 3.0 is also going to be the first really mobile web. Mobile is going to be huge for web 3.0
Thank you for the comment… I am really interested in what you do at Konnects and would like to chat with you sometime (feel free to email me: dcabusiness (at) gmail (dot) com if interested).
About the vid… I agree with you 100% with the idea of “web 3.0″ being the mobile web. In previous vids I mention the “Mobile/Internet Integration” and I am a firm believer that at some point they will meld.
The point I was trying to get across, is that there are a number of people out there right now sick of the Social Networking being just “Social” and fun. They are looking for ways to get “real” business from it. Some people are doing this right now… However, the majority is not.
You had some very valid and great points… That is why I would like to talk to you sometime. I think it would be an interesting convo.
The socialness of web 2.0 is indeed fun, but I do agree that people are going to want more value out of it, i.e. money. Right now social networking has it a strangle hold on the 20-30 year olds who started using social networking as teens with no idea about the potential it has to make them money.
As they move into the business world, they are going to realize what they can do for their career and business. Over the next couple of years, a lot of what is “fun” about social networks will get old and these people are going to be wanting something that fulfills a need for them. Email did it in the 90s and 00s and social/business networking is going to do it in the 10s and 20s.

Hood was a nice touch..
but the reality is.. the term makes less sense than the numbering system.
2.0 3.0 .. just who assigns these numbers?
What you are describing is “social results” or better yet “real results” or just “results”
Which is what we were all looking for all along.
New tech is cool.. just helps us live our live better.. more control over results.
That’s my “Web 2.0 Cents”
