Adam, you are right this is a hot topic that I believe does not yet have a definitive answer. In this early phase, what I see is those who pursue social networking with an authentic desire to communicate (two-way) have succeeded in developing brand affinity and creating opportunities. Those who are obviously utilizing social networking to promote without dialog are largely wasting their time. Yet, this too is not a hard and fast rule.

I’m glad that I’m not alone on this one! I think if more companies did this it would give them a “real” presence vs. the “corporate suit” image. And I think that’s where everything is trending.
Any other thoughts anyone?

I think it is a great idea. The problem is none of them will allow people to just interact without Marketing, PR, and legal departments censoring it.
